AM 22 YEARS OLD AND I JUST HAD A GASTRIC BYPASS. THE YEAR BEFORE I HAD IT DONE I WAS HAVING MY PERIOD ON TIME. IT'S BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE I GOT MY GASTRIC BYPASS AND A MONTH LATER I GOT MY PERIOD BUT VERY LIGHT NOW AM WONDERING HOW SOON CAN I GET PREGNANT AFTER MY BYPASS ITS JUST SOMETHING I've ALWAYS WANTED SINCE I HAVE MY NEW B/F

Dear mari251,
Your bypass should have nothing to do with your reproduction organs. But there could have been a great amount of stress on the body with the operation and it is just taking a bit of a rest to recover. So go see your doctor for a complete checkup regarding your question. The body needs time to heal and it would be wise to wait to get pregnant. I would suspect you may still be overweight and not as healthy as you should be to carry a child just yet. Slow down and enjoy your new look before you jump into getting pregnant. Sue...good luck
