Why is it that when you've been molested as a child you're prone to be promiscuous?

Dear queen,
It doesn't always lead to this type of behaviours. Sometimes it does the opposite and the person becomes "frigid" meaning the opposite to promiscuous. With counselling and the proper help a person who has been abused can lead a healthy normal life. But left untreated it could cause problems. So if it was you or someone you know getting help is a must. There is no need to live a life that is dangerous or unhealthy.
Sue...good luck

For some survivor's of sexual abuse especially when you become a teen and young adult it's not uncommon to have those feelings. For many reason's this behaviour is a form of coping skill used to help deal with the past. Most survivor's who do not seek help find themselves in this situation or behaviour and cause's more guilt, shame and anger.

For the most part I find that many survivors have this sense of trying to continue the pattern of past sexual abuse due to these feelings and truly don't understand the reason behind it. Most say I don't know why I continue. Some feel it's a way to get attention and it makes them feel good about themselves. The reality with this behaviour is that you re-victimize yourself to further feel shame, guilt then anger fit's right in. The victim gets a sense of feeling loved, needed and acceptance. If you look at the whole picture the victim is getting attention during this type of behaviour.

Once the victim finds someone that she/he can trust and starts talking about the sexual abuse issues you will find that the sexuality of a person who's dealing a past historical abuse will understands that the behaviour was a way to cope and not having to face the past. Not dealing with the underlying issue will just lead to feeling more anger, hate, shame and guilt. So the help is there and this won't happen overnight it takes time to heal from such a horrible experience but it you heal from your past experience.
