so my boyfriend and I were having sex last night and the condom broke, however he always pulls out so he did NOT go in me, but the condom was broken. I was due to start my period 3 days ago and im having bad cramps so I'll probably start tonight. should I even waste my money on the day after pill?

Dear dancer5678 ,
Yes indeed go for plan B. Just because he pulls out prior to ejaculation does not mean there is not sperm present. Prior to ejaculation there is fluid called pre-c*m. This contains sperm and can cause pregnancy.
Sue...good luck

Baby doll,
sue90 is 100% right. You have approximately 72 hrs of effectiveness with emergency contraception (EC). Think how expensive it will be if you do get pregnant.
Hopefully the boyfriend will pay for the EC, or at least split the cost.
Another option which will ALSO give ongoing contraception is the Copper-T IUD. It will provide EC and stay in place quite some time. And the new design is safe.

Since you are 18, you can get Plan B at most any pharmacy counter (even Wal-Mart) without a prescription.
The copper-T IUD must be put in by a Doctor. Since you are no longer a minor, your doctor CANNOT tell anyone about it (that is federal law known as HIPAA). You do not need permission from anyone. (The only thing about HIPAA, if you use health insurance to pay for the visit, the holder of the insurance will know.)

Since you are sexually active, you should be seeing a gynecologist for an exam and a pap smear. And please, get yourself on some ongoing contraception.

If you have trouble with finances, there should be health clinics or Planned Parenthood clinics that can help.

Do not delay, and Good Luck !!
