Does l'oreal's color remover work?

I've been coloring my hair for year. I have some premature grey strands. I used to go to the salon, and I wasn't changing my hair color, just masking the greys, so my hair colorist told me it was ok, to do it at home, so I've been doing that. I naturally have strong red in my hair, buit my hair color is medium brown. I want to go a bit lighter (like a carmel), and tried that this weekend, and now my hair is really dark??? Not sure what happened. I saw Loreal has a color remover, should I try that? From what I have read, the permanent color must still be in my hair from before and I am coloring on top of color, and that is why it is so dark.
How do I fix this?
thanks.

Hi,

I just searched for color remover reviews, and this product got great reviews from people (3.8 out of 4.0, with over 100 reviews).

I feel like loreals colour remover should work, but I think works its best on its own products. as you know each product has different results. and for your hair being darker...whenever you want to go a bit lighter you need something with ammonia. or some sort of product that takes the darker colour out of your hair. when you put one colour over another without some sort of lightening step, you're hair WILL come out darker.
maybe I would recommend going to the salon to bleach your hair and then add the caramel brown. it will defiantly give you the colour you want but it could be expensive. and you have to maintain dying your hair because since you bleached your hair first, the colour will eventually fade also deep conditioning or even going to get your hair glazed once in a while to keep your hair moisturized and healthy looking.

I don't know if im making sense but I hope I helped

NEVER use L'oreal's color remover. I have used it before. It DOES NOT WORK. I had dark brown hair and wanted to go to a lighter brown. It turned my hair bright orange.
