In small doses it's fine, but if you're a 3-pot-a-day drinker, it's in the baby's best interest to do some serious cutting back.

No, it's not ok.

It's safe to have UP TO 8oz (one small cup) of coffee or one can of soda.

I think even one cup isn't good. I think if you try to stay off it including caffeinated teas. I drank 1 cup each day as I was pregnant and my daughter turned out with ADHD. Don't quote me that that is the reason. But just avoid it. I don't know for sure how much can be damaging. It affects the nervous system to a fetus.
