Dear brokenxxx,
The reason for this wife tale stems from the fact that coffee can deplete the body of calcium. Calcium plays a major part in bone growth and children or teens who drink coffee are depleting their bodies so adults say it stunts growth. In a round about way you can say it's kind of true...calcium is needed to make bones grow so less calcuim the slower the growth.
Sue...good luck

I've been drinking coffee since I was 12 and I'm taller than most people. I suppose it is possible that I'd be even taller without drinking coffee but I doubt it.

I'm 5'9'' and I've been drinking coffee forever. It hasn't affected my growth. I don't knpw about the calcuim bit cause I'm lactose intolerent so not big on milk and stuff cause I have to take medication to drink it. But I can tell you it hasn't affected my own growth or my 6'1'' bro.
