I just reread Genesis 1-8. I do not see anywhere that it says it did not rain. Plus, we know that the flood was more than 2500 B.C. (not how long before) and that Genesis was written between 1450 and 1410 B.C.
We also know weather was not really recorded that far back in history. The concept of recording and predicting weather is relatively new, so it stands to reason that they were unsure and therefore did not record it.
I personally know from reading articals and watching documentaries that the soil tells the history and the rock. You can dig deep enough to learn what the rain was like in any given era. It also stands to reason that humans at that point in time were not scientists, although we have been learning and growing since we were made. They did not have this knowledge available.
Here's the verses silverwings referred to:
Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth , and there was not a man to till the ground.
Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
Hope this helps !!
