Chinchilla?

okay,I really want a chinchilla but my mom wont let me get one.So please tell me what anyone has done to convinve your parents,roomates,w.e to get a pet?? and if it worked?

my best friend had a chinchilla and she said he was lots of work. They bathe in this charcoal like stuff she said. He was pretty high maintenance!
