Cheerleading degrading females?

Girls jumping up and down in skirts while guys play on the field,wit pom poms and all?Isnt that a bit degrading?

Lol no. Cheerleading is actually a sport it self... It all just depends on what the cheerleaders are doing. Such as bending over and etc distracting the football players. But it is not degrading at all. Cheerleading has been a sport almost as long as football.

why would it be degrading. a mans drive comes from girls cheering him on. why ask something so simple as to why its done. plus the guys arent gonna go around the school putting up cute posters with there names on them to get there spirit up. they know what they are doing. they need the school behind them. and plus the girls get the crowd going and when you are on the field 4th quarter 30 yds from touchdown. its 4th down and 00:06 left on the clock just enough for one play left to tie the game and get the extra point to win. who is to get the crowd pumped up for the home team to take the win. Down, ready, red-49, HIKE!

Nope not at all I am a cheerleader and have been for quite a while and yes it is a sport also we work very hard and people don't understand. It's not degradeing, when we are bending over and shakeing our hips we are just haveing fun. You should join.

I've been cheerleading for a while now and some people may think its degrading but a lot of football players and basketball players like the support they get from them
