Cell phones at movies

Piper Asked by harleyrider 9 months ago, 9 answers.

Ok here we go, I went to see Gran Torino yesterday and thought is was a great movie, I think everyone should go see it. anyway, even in the movie they were talking about cell phones and texting, right in the beginning of the movie, So now about 1 1/2...

later into the movie, this young lady kept opening her cell to text. She was sitting almost in the front, so all of us behind her could really see the light, I don't think she relized how bright it was in such a dark room and how much of a disturbance it was, So finally the third time she got it out, I got out of my seat walked down to her and asked her if she would mind putting it away or holding it down at her lap. So what would you have done, and honestly you can't wait 2hrs to chat with someone until the movie is over?
Disrespectful or not? What would you have done? OH and right where you pay there is a big sign that say's NO CELL PHONES allowed in theater.

Also, before the trailers start (here at our theaters at least) there is one of the huge movie rating things... you know where it says rated PG 13 and then goes on to describe why its rated as such!?
Well ours says rated RA. To the side it describes cell phone use in the theatre is not allowed, etc. And at the bottom it states rate RA (again) and then says rated as such, as it is...REALLY ANNOYING
Its probably not just here that's showing it. Watch everything prior to the trailers for the new movies. I thought it was hilarious!!

I would have to agree with you on this subject I used to work at a cinema in my home town and we had problems all the time concerning people using their phones inside.
I once had a group of lads constantly on their phones disturbing a KIDS MOVIE of all things!!! people need to realise they are disturbing others who have paid good money to watch a movie and have a pleasurable experiance. they haven't gone there to listen to 'who broke up with who' or some other random rubbish that can wait until until the films over!

I agree completely. I mean I can see people having their cell phones on silent just in case of an emergency but no other reason should be acceptable to just text in the middle of the movie. In every theater there are signs that say no cell phones I guess some people just think the rule doesn't apply to them. It is just disrespectful to the other members in the theater if someone just pulls out their phone especially if they are near the front. I can see if there are emergencies and people need to get in touch with someone. An example would be, I went to a movie a while ago and in the middle of a movie a man, around 40 years of age had a stroke. Since people had their phones on we were able to get in touch with 911 fast and easy. So yes I can see why people have their phones on but yes it is very annoying when they just pull out their phones in the middle of the movies

Nah it aint like that if you wanna use your phone..you can all you gotta do is keep in mind that there other people that wanna watch the movie. it aint nuttin' bad to text I mean would you rather have someome on the phone during the movie? so if anyone wanna or gotta use their phones,be smart about it. In my view it was kinda like boarder line disrespect but in a sense you was kinda right for doin it and in tha US nobody rilly pay attention to rules
