I am at my wits end. I have been unemployed since August of 2007. I have been applying to jobs everyday but get no response.

I am feeling like I should just say f*ck it and kill myself.

Dont kill yourself...
what kind of jobs are you looking for...maybe they arent ones that fit your personality try finding a test online that tells you what jobs would be the best for you. You always could try just to find little side jobs...ask a neighbor if they need any work done around the house or yard. There are many other options you have. Dont do anything bad to yourself just because you cant find a job...its not worth it. If you ever want to fun mail me feel free to.

Look everyone has a hard time finding jobs (I wanted to volunteer and I still had a hard time finding a job!) and generally most people get depressed during this time. But NOTHING lasts forvever, including your unemployed status. Looking at the odds, you're bound to find a job eventually...

I would try and expand the field, look for anything you can find, and then start looking for what you really want..

Hey, so sorry you are feeling down and out. But killing yourself will do nothing but hurt the ones around you. Maybe it is time for a career change. I know how you are feeling. I was at the height of my career and became disabled, and let me tell you when you become disabled, not too many job choices. So I decided I can't set here and do nothing and I surely can't kill myself. So I went back to school, and I am even doing it online. I do not know what your education status is but instead of saying 'Should I just kill myself' maybe you should say 'Time to go back to school or 'Time for a career change'
Also, if you are feeling this way it is time to take some action because if you are asking this question then the thought is very dangerous. You can go to a local doctor if you want and tell them what is running through your head and they can give you something temporarily until you get to feeling better, or you can go to your local mental health offices and talk to someone there. Don't go at this rough life alone, some things are hard and you are going to get down and out, but your life is very precious that can not be taken for granted.
Listen to happy music, treat yourself to something you enjoy (and it don't have to be anything that cost money), go for a walk in the park, rescue a dog. Volunteer at the hospital or nursing home. Anything besides thinking of killing yourself. Good luck, you are in my prayers.

I was in a similar situation a few years back and decided to gain more experience in a different field of work by assisting a number of charities on a voluntary basis.

This gave me a feeling of purpose
I learnt new skills
And, voluntary work while unemployed always looks good on a CV

Just make sure that you run it bu your benefits agency first as there are restrictions on how many hours you can work voluntary and the fact that you need to be contactable in case a suitable job crops up in some countries.

Also, if you are feeling depressed, speak to your doc. They will understand and there are a number of different medications available that can take the edge off your anxiety and depression.

Lastly, exercise! No matter how hard it may be to motivate yourself, this will generate 'feel good' chemicals in your brain and keep you fit at the same time.

Good Luck and don't give up hope.

I sympathize with you. I went through something similar and got very depressed. Take life one day at a time and try to have positive thoughts. Seek help if your suicidal thoughts continue. Think about your family and friends and how selfish it would be for you to take your life. Don't give up on life. Things will get better. Let your loved ones know how your feeling. You will find a job! You can send me funmail if you like. PEACE!!!

I agree, killing yourself is not the answer. I think I am also in the same shape you are in except I have bi-polar and a drug conviction that is keeping me from getting a job, I also have two young kids I need to support and I am having a rough time of it but I am not thinking about killing myself. things will get better.
