Canon s 820 printer

Hello,
My question to you is;
Do you know why my printer would be printing with linesa in it? Also, I installed a new ink, but the paper had not come off all the way. It was not registering that I had the color in it. That is when I figured out I had left a little paper in it. I cleared the paper away but it still is not registering that the cartridge is in my machine. Suggestions?

possibly the cartrige head, (the piece you insert the ink cartridge into), may be blocked. this can cause the lines. as to the not registering the cartridges ink levels, all I can suggest is remove and reinsert the cartrigde and try again.
