Can someone give me a diagnosis?

yesterday I went to school and during my first class in the first 10 minutes got some visual disturbance, sort of a crest (moon shape) and everything inside that was blurred, about 10 minutes later this went away and I began to get a terrible headache. I don't normally get headaches, in fact I pretty much never get them, and this one was so bad, it made me feel sick as well, anyway I got picked up and they took me to a gp who said she was 'pretty sure it was a migrain' and to take me to hospital if symptoms persisted. the headache lasted about 2 hours then went away. I then and went home and slept for basically the rest of the day. me and mum and dad thought I was fine and would be able to go to school the next day, but the same headache woke me up at 6:00 this morning, it was really really bad, eventually I managed to get out of bed and it seemed a bit better when I wasn't laying down, mum gave me nuerofen and sent me back to bed, the nurofen didn't completely get rid of the headache and it was still really painful to lie down, but eventually I feel asleep. when I woke up mum rang 13 HEALTH and on their advice, my parents took me to emergency (even though the headache had gone). I wasn't really treated seriously at the hospital as I didn't have the headache at that time, so yeah, the doctor just put it down to migrain again. I'm pretty much always healthy and this is unusual for me, I think they should have done some blood tests even though I hate needles and stuff. I just don't feel right, and when I sneeze it still hurts, I feel as though it's going to come back. can someone please give their opinion on this? possibly someone with accreditations such as a nurse or doctor?

I think a 'migrain' diagnosis is right, but in your (and parent's) situtaion I would not let NO TO MAKE a good quality (!!!) computer tomograpy examination on your head (brain). In Australia it is easily accessible. Migrain is not a dangerous illness, you may read about it at many siteso are in books, lexicons, etc., but it needs really patience from you.

I get migraines as well. Migraines accompanied by visual disturbances are called 'migraine with aura' and that is the type that I get as well. So far my worst year was when I was 18-19 where I had several headaches so severe that I just had to lay in bed with a pillow over my head for hours to wait it out. Since then my headaches have been less frequent and usually less severe; I've only had a few really bad headaches in the last 15 years. Sometimes I get the visual disturbances without the accompanying headache and these go away before long.

I find asprin or ibuprofen effective against migraines if I take them as soon as I'm aware one is starting. If over-the-counter drugs are not effective for you there are perscription drugs for migraines; my mom takes these.

Is the cresent moon shape have squiggly lines and it moves out from your vision and it gets bigger and then disappears? I have that and the doctor told me it was migraines behind the eyes. Its not dangerous. Just very weird. But the headache after is a migraine and there is meds for that... Go to the eye doctor and have them check

visual disturbances and migraines are symptoms of diabetes, try eating the same amount of nutritionally balanced foods at regular intervals, see if that clears it up...o and low or no sugary items.

Even though all of these answers are great and probably very helpful, they can only give you a prognosis. To get a formal (and accurate) diagnosis, you will need to go see a doctor!
