Before surgeries, especially majories, physicians will usually tell you what you must do to prepare, which ususally includes not eating or drinking for 12-24 hours before surgury. If you think it could affect you surgery in ANY way, I would recommend that you call your physician's office and ask. They will be more than happy to tell you what the physician will recommend. Since he/she is performing the surgery, he/she has a plan, so contact the office and the surgeon will undoubetedly get back to you and let you know the best course of action.
