Can i ride a 125cc bike on a cbt

hi all.
I understand that the regulations state that if ipassed my cbt on a 50cc scooter (which I did) then I quallify to ride a 125 geared bike as soon as im 17 IS THIS CORRECT? Also I understand that I have to do sumthing like upgrade my provisional...

to a A1? what does this mean and how do I do it?
