Can bench pressing alter your height?

I'm 13 and I work out using weights. people tell me that doing this can alter your growth like height ,etc.., is that true?

because you are only 13 then you still have some growing to do! so when you hit the weights you don't want to hit them too hard! mostly you want to do cardio! do not lift for power lift for tone and once you get to about 15 1/2 to 16 years of age then you can start lifting for power!

lifting at that age may or may not effect your height, it depends on your body... but as far as you only being 13 it is definantly too early to tell.
