Can animals detect pregnancy?

35 weeks pregnant (Yes, I have a sports-bra on) Asked by stephanief987 about 1 month ago, 3 answers.

My fiance and I have been wondering, do you think animals know when a human is carrying a baby? We have 2 little kittens and it's almost like they know I'm carrying a baby. The one, Dexter, he loves to cuddle with my belly and set his paw where the kicks...

are. The kittens are only about 5 weeks old but it seems like they know, same with my parents dog, she's acted different around me since around 5 months pregnant.

I think they can. I know my dogs can sense when im scared and upset, even if I am not vocal about it. I know when I was pregnant my dog was very careful around me. She would go from being crazy bouncing off the walls with pther people to incredibly calm cause she got near me. My dog also takes care of my son. She will lick his feet when hes sick and will come get me when something is wrong. She will come into our room at night and pull at my covers and then at me whining the entire time and when I get up she leads me right to his room. I would not be suprised at all if animals maternial instincts kick in with their owners, Especially when they feel like family.

I agree with babygirl. My dog picks up when I'm sad, she'll be gentle and cuddly then, so I'm going to say the same goes for pregnancy.

Also another thing is dogs can hear very well. So maybe the kicking and movement of the baby can also to some extent be felt or heard by them.

I believe so, especially due to the fact that animals like dogs, cats, etc are highly sensitive to their owner's surroundings/feelings. happy If domesticated pets can sense storms on the way and paranormal activity, I believe they can tell that you're carrying a little baby!

And by the way, congratulations.
I haven't been on this website for awhile and was shocked to see how far along you are. Wow, you're going to have a baby soon!
