Can an apology hurt someone?

Ok so I told my ex...that I wanted to write or contact his mother and apologize for anything hurtful I may have said during this rollercoaster ride from hell breakup. I told him that she deserves an apology and I would like her to know the truth about...

our decision to have an abortion (because he told her that I miscarried) (so she thinks I faked it.) And he also has her beleiveing that it was not his kid too because I had been with someone else, but the mornong after I was with someone else I went to PPH and took the morning after pill...and got my period, I concieved that weekend (according to the doctors) and I was only with him (my ex). So I have all the paper work and doctors notes to prove that it was his child, and I have all the proof I need to show her this. But he told me that if I apologize for the things I did to him, (cheating, and the mean things I said about his father) that it would only hurt her more...why would that hurt her? I am owning up to my mistakes and I feel that she deserves an apology from me, but he freaked out and yelled at me and does not want me talking to his mother AT ALL!!! WHY???

Something's fishy there! I don't know but I'm thinking that he's trying to hide something. Then again, maybe he knows that his mom won't take this info well so he's trying to leave it in the past. In any case, talk to him and try to find out what the REAL reason behind his behavior is. Good luck!
