It works for some people. I cannot possibly answer how. I mean her parents are the least of your concern. If you got past the religious part, I doubt the the conservative part is going to be a deal breaker. You also only have to see them on certain occasions, so you just have to agree to disagree. No one is forcing you to be different but yourself. You've put yourself in a position of being someone you're not. So just start being yourself. There's a difference between being yourself and being disrespectful. My family is very religious and conservative. I am not. I dont shove my beliefs down their throats. I will also, on occasion, do things I am not particularly happy with (like attend a religious function) to make them happy. But they know who I am and what my beliefs are, and we live in a middle ground... So try and aim for a middle ground... Whatever that means for you...

girl who hates Obama, is very conservative, a Christian, and believes every word of the Bible. Now we have had an awesone relationship, dont get me wrong. I love the girl to death and I can see myself marrying her one day. But I am wondering if our love for each other can withstand our political and religious differences? I would be for sure that it could if it werent for one thing...her parents. The are very conservative and religious as well. Now they know I am agnostic and have come to terms with it. But if they found out I was liberal, they would furious. But I hate not being allowed to be my true self around them. So heres where I need help...How do can I not compromise my true values without jeopardizing my relationship? Please give me some advice...im in desperate need. Thanks.
