it honestly all depends on where you're doing it and how you intend to use it. I do believe it's a form of professional dance; its a descendent of extemporal comedy which is improv theatre and is often used and viewed as more of a comedic thing (since it's found a lot in comic sketchs and satirical plays). however, I don't think it's something you'll learn in college.
more modern examples where you'll find burlesque dancing would be in cabaret (I LOVE cabaret). its a great thing to try out, and I would suggest to take it up as a hobby if you're interested in different creative things. it doesn't require nudity, but it comes with minimal costuming. so. that's something to keep in mind.
If you are near a military base often they will have a 'Go-Go' bar on base. . . .

Is burlesque dancing considered professional?
I was wondering if burlesque dancing was considered Professional dancing. Because I am going to college for professional dancing. But while in college I would love to do burlesque dancing to get some type of experince in performing in front of people. I love being different and creative. The only problem is I don't want to be nude. Is burlesque dancing the same as a stipper? PLEASE REPLY AND GIVE ME HONEST COMMENT PLEASE!!!
