When I was younger I went to a beach that had sand fleas. I (of course) ended up with a bad allergic reaction to them. I had the bite marks for about a month. My doctor did give me something to put on them though. I would go to the doctor, at least he should be able to give you something to get rid of the itch.
I just read something on the internet about those it it's so gross. they are considered crustaceans and actually embed themselved in the skin...that's why the more you scratch the more they itch. I tried something a pharmacist recommended and that is to put clear nail polish on each bite, so that it basically smothers the sand flea. I hope it works because it's really, really itchy, wayyy itchier than mosquito bites or anything else.

Bugs at the beach
I took my girls to the beach about a week ago and these little black flying bugs were swarming around my legs and bit me numerous times. A week later the bites are still there and itch like they did the first day! What do you think they are, sand...
fleas or chiggers? If so, do I need to see a doctor or something...because they aren't going away. Not really sure what either one of those bugs are, but those are the things that crossed my mind.
