Breeding

Asked by possumfang 4 months ago, 5 answers.

My step mothers Chiuahuah(imperial breed)is in heat. We have a smaller, I guess
average breed of chiuaha(runt of the litter.) And he has been on her 24/7. She
went in heat about 7 or 8 days ago. They've succefully mated about 10 times now.
She is...

no longer bleeding.

My step mother is pretty sure she is pregnant.

She heard that a Chihuahua can get pregnant multiple times in one cycle.. and
that it doubles the litter. If so... having birth 2 or 3 times in a row might
kill her. Or something or other. If this is true, what may you suggest that we
do?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and answer. It is highly appreciated!

No. Once they are pregnant, they are pregnant. It doesn't make any more puppies to be inside her womb. Just keep an eye on her and rght before the pups arrive, start feeding her puppy food. This will help her produce the milk she'll need to feed the pups.

They are born with so many eggs just like us, they drop so many during a heat cycle and those are the ones that get Fertilized, So having them tie more then once just increase the chance of it being successful, NOT a bigger litter

You should NEVER have let the runt breed. Male or female. It doesn't matter. You should only breed grade A dogs that will be sure to IMPROVE the breed. Or just spay and neuter and stop dog overpopulation and stop dogs from going to shelters and rescues. We are rescuing a Chihuahua tonight, skinny and abandoned. Do you really want that to happen to your dog's puppies? Sorry for the rudeness, but it's what would be best for your dogs.

They may be born with deformities.
like blizz said you should never ever breed related dogs.
it's the same as you having a child with your child...
sorry but its true. dont breed unless you know the pros and cons.
not all litters go well. not all puppies survive, even perfectly heathly, pure bred litters can turn out bad.
I suggest that anyone who doesnt know properly about these things should read up on them and get expert advice =) x

its too late now. and guess what dogs have puppies. People need to dtop breeding too but its not gonna happen. there are just as many abandoned children as puppies. well maybe not as much but you get my point. my chi is pregnant and my two chis mated 12 times. she will be fine just make sure you get an x ray if nothing else around the 50th day from the first time they mate. you will need to know how many pups are inside to detemine a c section. the more the better cause they will be smaller a 1 or 2 pup liter will be complicated cause the pups will be to big to come out naturally.
