Since she is your pet, I don't suggest breeding her. She is very small and that could cause problems! If she is good with kids and trustung of people that can all change after she looses all ofher babies (when they go to their new homes). Also being that she is so small it is quite likey that she will need a c-section. People don't realize that there are a lot of doggy moms who die while in labor or after. There could be internal bleeding that you don't know of , she may have retain an afterbirth inside (which will cause it to rot inside her and cause an infection- which if not caught in time could kill her) or she may have stopped birthing one puppy short (that could kill her). Raising puppies sounds like a lot of fun, but is it really orth the risk of possibly loosing your pet/family member?
Good luck with your decision!

This is a pet dog not a breeder dog. It is very dangerous to breed dogs if you are not educated or know what you are doing. Yes, your dog could die in the process because she is small and many small dogs need cecarian sections to give birth. This is also very very expensive. If you really love you dog just keep her as a pet, don't breed her. Maybe even consider getting her fixed so she can be a better pet to you. Back yard breeders are the reason animals are overpopulated. Don't add to the problem. If you breed your dog and some families adopt the puppies every family that adopts your puppy is leaving another stranded in a shelter that they could have saved.

It's obvious by your question, that you have No Breeding Experience! She's a little too old to breed. Not knowing what you are doing, can put your dogs life at risk! Being that she is a small breed, there is even more of a risk! If your don't know how to spot and assist when there is a complication or when it's time to take your dog to the vet for a C-Section, then your dog and her puppies can Die! Is that really a risk you are willing to take with your dog? Breeding is a lot of work. It's not just putting two dogs together, letting them mate and having puppies! There is a lot more involved. Leave the breeding to the professionals who know what they are doing and who are breeding for the right reasons. Get your female Spayed! She will be much happier and healthier in the long run! Don't breed her! Just love her and enjoy her!

I understand that but you are not a breeder with a license. Anyone who breeds dogs without a breeding license is called a back yard breeder. It may be fun for you but think about the animals that are getting put down in shelters because they have no loving family to adopt them.

She's 6 1/2 pounds?
I've seen smaller dogs than that, 4 or 5 pounds, giving birth just fine.
It depends on how big the male is that you're wanting to breed her to.
Make sure he is smaller than her. If he is bigger, there's a huge possibility that she can't have the puppies.
