What's causing my breathing problems?

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice about 1 year ago, 6 answers.

I've had breathing problems for a while now. About a year ago I went to the doctor and got a puffer/inhaler for the problem. It seemed to sort of work, because I was having random breathing attacks for no reason. Later I found out I'm allergic to pollens...

in the air at summer time- and they were causing my breathing attacks. I was always worried and always kept my puffer with me, so afraid that I would loose my breath again. Well a couple of months go by, and I havent got any more breathing problems for a while.. so I put my puffer away in my drawer. It's been about a year since then and I have to walk to school every day. I find walking difficult because I am always very short of breath and have to breath in very deeply to gain back my breath. My backpack isnt very heavy and I'm wondering if its the cold air? I have never got any lung X-rays or never been diagnosed with any other sort of breathing problem.. I'm just scared that I have something seriously wrong with my lungs. My dad always smokes around me when I'm near him and maybe I have cancer!!?? I'm very scared..

dont worry. You probably have athsama ,and it just sometimes gets bad becuse your dad smokes. Ask your self if you have had any of these athsama attacks during gym or a other activite that you might exert your self

and if your positive you dont have athsama check with your docter again just to make shure

Whatever the cause, you have shortness of breath - see your Doctor for a proper diagnosis - delay may make things worse - dont' assume the worst, it may be minor...I wish you the best !!

Uh yeah its probably just asthma (ok not the most fun thing on earth but its not the worst thing either, more annoying than anything...) and smoking can trigger it...

It is likely it could be asthma...

I have it and have done since I was about 2 ...its not good but if you know how to control it and take your inhailers its fine. IT sounds like it is asthma that you have as you get short of breathe when walking and the cold triggers it as with pollen, smoke and dust...

Im sure its nothing serious. See the doctor and they will be able to properly diagnose it.

it could possibily be asthma.
it could be that you are out of shape.
could be allergies.
if you are overweight (not saying you are, IF you are) that could be a reason since your body has to work twice as hard.

I would ask your doctor to check you for asthma, he will give you a breathing test and look at your lungs. it might be that you need to take a pill or a liquid medicine along with an inhaler.
when I was in jr. high one of my lungs got significantly smaller than the other ( I had asthma) and he gave me inhalers, nasal spray, steroids, and antibiotics.
Just go see a doctor, these are just some ideas.
