How do you have a smooth and friendly breakup?

How to break up with a guy smoothly? and not hurting his feelings wherein you can still expect that you'll be friends after?

- Be polite and smile.
- Get to the point quickly.
- Be nice; don't say you'd rather be friends if you have no intention of staying friendly.
- Make it as painless as possible by being direct and NOT saying something like, 'if things were different'.
- Don't over explain or make excuses.

ill tell u the dont's -
- DO NOT
brake up on a phone
brake up on an instant message
brake up by telling your friend to tell him
say we have to talk
cry, because he will cry
leave him off with any clues or mixed feelings if things were different etc.
speak directly after brake up, try using phone like a day later.
ask him to hang out with u after u broke up with him until a week passed, and with friends.
