Why does everyone want to be a size 0?

What is the crazy idea eveyone wats to be a size zero? I know if I go to the stoer and I can't fit into a size zero I become depressed.

There's an unbelievable amount of pressure to be thin right now.. but it hasn't always been that way. In fact, the women considered beautiful, up until about 50 years ago, would be told to lose weight today! Concentrate on treating your body well, and it'll treat you well. Appreciate it for all it does for you.. it's the only one you've got.

Yeah, some people are really crazy about body size and image. Don't let it get to you. It's much better to be healthy than to be sickly and too skinny. Most people are not a size zero, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Take pride in the fact that you're too smart to get caught up these starvation 'diets' that so many other people are falling victim too.

Don't be depressed! I see a lot of girls who strive to be a size 0, and ya know what? They don't look that great! Too darned skinny, no curves..it's kind of like hugging your kid brother.

I don't know why young girls think it's so 'hot' to be so thin. Nothin' hot about skeletons.

if your wear size zero that means you either anorexic or just want ALL the guys attention (honey believe me you dont need to be like all the other girls)

I don't appreciate the person above who said that 0s are skeletons. I am a 0-1 and I am 15 1/2 years old and I am about 5' 4'. I have been trying to gain weight since 7th grade and am now going into the 10th grade. I have a very high metabolism. I can't even reach 100 lbs yeah im obviously a girl. What really frustrates me is when people think I don't eat and they say things like 'eat a hamburger'. I don't care what people think about me but I just don't feel like I look healthy. And yes, I do eat a hamburger! I actually eat like a whole Big Mac and fries when I go out to 'grab a bite to eat'! If anyone know how I can naturally or organically gain weight, please, please help me. Id appreciate it so much!

I don't think Mark meant anything mean by it. I think he was just making a reference to girls who starve themselves in order to be a size zero, but then end up looking unhealthy in the process. Some people are naturally skinny, and that's ok if that's what's healthy for them.

Never try to eat junk food just to bulk up. Eating junk food can make you unhealthy without giving you those curves anyway. So just focus on eating right. Go with fruits, vegetables, plenty of water, pasta, bread, etc. Things like Big Macs just clog your arteries and slow you down, giving you less energy.

You're still young, so there's a good chance you'll naturally put on a few pounds within the next couple of years.

mrsdepp, I apologize for my skeleton remark...it was not meant to offend you or hurt your feelings, and yes, I 'was' referring to girls who starve themselves to look 'beautiful.'

My sister is your age and size and she eats like a horse...I'm sure she'll eventually fill out, but the most important thing is that she is healthy.
