Rosario + Vampire Asked by crazylikepie 8 months ago, 9 answers.

Ok so I've been attempting to wright some books for some time now. I write all fiction, and mostly about mystical stuff. I discovered that
1 - Comedy is not my forte
2 - I can get the ideas for horror books and suspense, but can't get any further because...

in truth I am a total coward
3 - I'm weak in writing vampire books
4 - I can write fairy tale type stuff well, but I don't have the ideas I need

help??

I'm not sure what kind of help you are asking for.

Are you looking for ideas? Tips?

try reading different types of books (not anime books mira) and see which you think you would be able to describe and go from there.

I did that already. I've studied for architecture now I just need my floor plan. (not really for a house though, for those who didn't catch that)

okay...so what do you think you would be best at? fantasy without the horror? full-blown horror?

Fantasy and Sci-Fi are probably your easiest types of books to write because you have the freedom of imagination.

I think Tolkien does an incredible job of portraying fantasy, but I don't suggest you try to read the books - they are long and can leave someone pretty lost if they don't have a love for the literature. The movies Lord of the Rings deviate quite a bit from the writings, but they can still give you a great perspective on what to use in a fantasy novel.

Sit down one day and have a movie marathon - watch all 3 of the movies and you'll most likely have a better idea of where to begin.

I know Tolkien always helps me when I have writer's block.

Fantasy and Sf are great - but also very challenging to write.

In addition to the regular problems that all writers have - a good plot, making believable characters (both good and bay guys) with understandable motivations - you also have to manufacture a new universe, with its own laws (often various laws of magic) and its own history. Tolkien does all this, and wonderfully - but there are an awful lot of very bad F/FS books around!

You might take a lead from what most now-famous authors have done: their first books tend to be based on their own lives, or special episodes in their lives - like a traumatic childhood, their first love, etc.

That's the field you know best - your own experience - so you can concentrate on the writing (and yes, the spelling...)..
