Books: just go to Borders or any other bookshop and ask them what books 9yearold girls like.
Uhm, just go to ToysRUs and ask the same question.

First of all, are you buying for a girl or a boy? Second, what do they like or what are they into? Third, if your completely lost for ideas and don't want to risk getting them something they don't really like, a gift they're sure to love is MONEY! That's pretty much all I get now for birthday/christmas gifts since I'm turning 17 really soon.
