The shot is NO GOOD...I had to take the shot because I ave high blood preasure, but I gained SOOO much weight because of it, It made me sick, caused muscle cramps, and (nobody told me this until AFTER I took it) it can make you sterile and possibly cause cervical cancer...The pill is risky, but not THAT risky...I'd go with the pill...good luck

Talk to your doctor, they will recommened what works best for you. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages...
I personally prefer the patch, it's a once a week, no pain thing, but it doesnt work if you weigh over a certain amount... The pill needs to be taken everyday at around the same time for maximum effictiveness and I'm bad at that, and the vaginal ring is well annoying to put in... oh yes the shot does have the unfortunate side effect of weight gain

Talk to your doctor. She(he) will give you medically correct advice. The thing to remember is that your body will react to different methods, and different birth control pills in a manner that is unique to YOU.
High progesterone pills will shut down some women's libido, but not others. So work with your doctor to find the best for YOU.
And don't forget about IUD's. Modern ones are safe, and can be good for 5-10 years.
And of course none of these methods will stop STD's, so also insisting on a condom in a non-monogamous relationship is smart. (If you're using condoms for pregnancy prevention, strongly consider getting the morning after pill for your medicine cabinet in case the condom breaks or slips off. And remember that the guy's dork can be leaking sperm in his pre-c*m so make sure he wraps that thing first.)

Ell: The ring is new and they don't list all the side effects it could have. There are forums talking about what a sh*tty crazy thing it is. Shots are a hassel and they also have unpleasant side effects. Do you remember things well? the pill is an option. If you do not, then you could wind up preggos. The patch I haven't tried and I don't know so much about it but it seems pretty awesome. The only thing that would concern me is it coming off, and swimming and stuff. I imagine though that you can just put another on and they must be waterproof for like showers and stuff.
