Birth control or morning after pills?

best friends Asked by voice5w33t about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

I need advice. Which is best (the birth control or morning after pills)?
Right now, I'm thinking Morning After Pills just due to the fact that I wouldn't have to take them on daily basis, but I'm not sure if their the best option.
Any advice would...

be great...
Thanks!

I view the morning after pill as a backup, not used as birth control.

Morning After pills are 97% effective... THE FIRST TIME!!! After that they lose their ability to keep you from getting pregnant (by a lot each time). There are tons of birth control methods (that ya dont have to take daily)

try Nuvaring (once every 3 weeks), an IUS (once every 5 to 10 years), patch(once every week), or injection (once every 4 months!)

The morning after pill is specifically used for accidents, NOT for birth control. The MAP is a HIGH dose of hormones. It is not as effective as taking the pill. And if you dont want DAILY birth control, use a condom, or wear the patch, or even use the nuvaring. The MAP is not a joke.

The morning after pill is basically a high dosage of birth control and is not reliable as as a contraceptive method.

Birthcontrol pills prevent pregnancy by supressing ovulation. (your body releasing an egg to get fertilized by sperm)

The morning after pill works by supressing ovulation if you have not ovulated yet and prevents egg implantation incase an you have ovulated(by thickening cervical mucous). However, the morning after pill aka emergency contraceptive will NOT have any effect if you have ovulated and an egg has alread implanted before the hormones make it into your system. (you'd basically be playing roulette, not to mention it'd get pretty costly)

There are other forms of birth control that you do not have to take daily such has the shot, the nuvra ring, the patch and the iud that would be a much better option. Talk to your doctor or gynecologist.

No no no, the morning after pill is a high dosage of birth control and used regularly could seriously mess with your body (not to mention a lot of people get a lot of side effects, so they're really only a last option method). Use the patch if you dont want to take a pill everyday or the IUD (no hormones if you dont want)

morning after pills arnbt a regular form of birth control

^clarification: the morning after pill does not terminate a pregnancy.
If you have ovulated, the egg was fertilized and then implanted in your uterine lining then the morning after pill will do nothing and your pregnancy will continue.

Sperm can live in the vagina for up to a week - giving 52 hours of potential fertilization if you ovulate. The morning after pill is another preventative measure - for emergency cases if a contraceptive method has failed. It prevents ovulation and implantation.
