I think the best thing for you to do is talk to him becos he is your best friend, you should be able to talk to him about anything, and if he doesnt feel the same it wont ruin anything becos everyone love being told that someone likes them, its flattering but atleast you'll know. If you dont want to take a direct approach becos you are afraid it may scare him or push him away, then maybe just turn up the flirting a lil bit. Not so full on but maybe give him an extra compliment here and there, show him a lil more affection and see if he does the same in return or he just gives you that 'nah dude wat u doing' body language back.
