What's a great family-friendly beach for a weekend?

I wanted to know if there are any beach in particular which is the better for a weekend trip. I want a family friendly beach.

Do you mean anywhere in the country?? Having a general idea of where you are talking about would help, but I can speak from my own experience and say that Vero Beach, FL is a great family beach, as well as Ft. Meyers, FL. they both are lovely and not nearly as expensive as Miami or the like (which isn't as family-friendly either).

Hope you live in the USA because from experience, I can definately say that Mexico Beach, Florida is a beautiful beach to stay at with many local attractions and it is quiet and is slowly being constructed to having more attractions. It is somewhat small, and to give you an idea, it is on the panhandle of Florida and has a cape that jetts out into the ocean, in front of its beach, making a safer place away from many sharks. And the cape that protects it is also a very neat place to stay. As of April 2006, there were virtually no places to eat nor attractions making it desolate but still very comfortable! Clearwater Florida has a really nice scenery. It is near Tampa Florida. It may be a little expensive.

florida is nice, but a lot of the beaches in michigan are more family-oriented. there are many along all the great lakes but my favorite by far is manistee. Beautiful beach, beautiful town, and really friendly people

Oh, forgot to mention though. If you are planning on leaving the country, I would deffinately recomend Nassau, Bahamas. It is by far the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life.
