Yes you will be able to still play sports it stops hurting around the third or fourth day and you must take care of it and yea you will be able to swim In three weeks.

You should be able to play sports. Most people who get a piercing (either one that dangles a lot or is really fresh) put a small band-aid over it to keep it safe from infection or being ripped out. Some piercing parlors actually have it in the directions to do that for navel piercings anyway, just because clothes can have bacteria or cause irritation to a healing piercing.

It's not really safe to go swimming with a fresh navel piercing, especially in pools or hot tubs (they contain microorganisms, chlorine, and bacteria). Navel piercings can take up to a year to heal fully and most piercers say not to go swimming for the first couple months after having it done. IF you really want to risk it, you can try some gas permeable band-aids like Tegaderm or Duoderm, as they let oxygen pass through while keeping liquids out. One patch per swim, and they aren't reusable.

You should be able to play sports, it depends entirely how you heal... for all 3 of mine I could barely walk it hurt a lot... it'd make me cramp up...
So yeah that depends enitrely on you...
But as nero said, if it dosen't hurt, just put a bandaid over it to prevent it from ripping or tearing, and it also keeps the sweat out.

As for the swimming its not good at all, water contains a lot of bacteria, and can easily lead to infections. Again as nero said, if you REALLY want to risk it, put a waterproof bandaid on top, or even a gauze pad, just make sure you clean it REALLY well afterwards...

Good Luck =]

Of course your suppose to wait for 3 weeks after getting it pierced, but when I got mine pierced I went on Spring Break to Florida a week later and of course had to swim. You just have to make sure you clean it twice a day and after swimming or showers to dry it off good.

And to the sports part, I played many sports and it never has been a big issue. I just wouldn't wear a long one during an event. They can get stuck to clothes and tear. So I just wear small simple ones for my sporting events.

And this can vary from person to person and how quickly you heal. Good luck!
