And, I'd highly, highly recommend the following:
1) uploading a picture to your profile
2) answering other people's questions
3) Try to ask stuff that's interesting, and also phrase the question intelligently, with a good title, so that people can understand what you're asking without trying too hard.
4) Use an on topic picture in the question - those are the most interesting fun ones to read.
5) Give some information in the question - a single sentence doesn't tell much of a story, and a more information rich question where people don't have to research the answer to give you good advice will illicit more responses, and benefit you far more than a short, abbreviated question with little information.
