it normally depends on what kind of parent you are babysitting for..
at one of my babysitting houses they can watch whatever they want, eat whatever they want, and all I have to do is make sure the house doesnt burn down!
at another babysitting house, the child has to go to bed at 7 only eat preplanned meals, 3 snacks a day, no Wizards Of Waverly Place because it shows wizards?, and t.v. for only 1 hour a day.
these things are a little in the middle but always ask the parent first:
-board games: guess who;for younger kids I'd stay away from clue and monopoly.
-arts and crafts: fuzzy buddies work the best( those little colorful pom-pom balls with googly eyes glued to the front)
-hide and seek in the backyard
-movie night: bring a few KID friendly movies and some popcorn(ask parents)
try to stay away from:
-swimming(unless CPR certified)
-cooking
-computer time for more than 1 hour a day
-tag in the house
hope this helps
I just thought of a cool idea. make fake money and bring a few of you old beanie babies and other things from when you were little and they have to buy the things they want. like at a store. and little kids will think thats really cool that they can pick and actually buy it themselves. they like to be independent. set up a counter and put the toys and things out around the house and show them around your store.
---they love it when YOU are the one with the big imagination instead of them just dragging you along.
