Answer #1

Axl Rose, born Alexander Herschel Rosenthal, left his beloved Tennyson Indiana, for the sunnier climes of southern California at the tender age of 17. Shortly after arriving he befriended local scamp, Joey Gunderson. Soon enough the two ragamuffins became inseparable and the scourge of the local beat cops. On one occasion while painting the town red with south central’s gang supreme, The Pharoahs, Alex and Joey were prodded into chaining the rear axel of an LAPD officer’s cruiser to a light pole resulting in it’s detachment and earning Alex the nickname Axl. It is a common misnomer that the name was a result of dyslexic Gunderson’s incessant mispelling on band flyers years later. The stunt landed the duo in the big house and in a cell adjacent to a man who would change the ruffians’ life forever.

Fashion Magnate Malcolm McClaren(incarcerated following a shortlived stint impersonating “His Majesty’s Mota Customs and Excise Collector” in east L.A.’s barrios) spied the pompadoured twosome and was immediately ensconced by the unadulterated sex emanating from them. Under his tutelage the team acquired second hand instruments, learned the rudimentary scales, grew their hair out, and set ink to the presses calling themselves, Guns and Roses Two Man Minstrel Review, later shortened to the infamous, Guns N’ Roses.

Friendship found itself no match for the fame that proceeded. Gunderson became increasingly introverted as the once bosom buddies drifted further and further apart, due especially to Rosenthals habitual womanizing and binge drinking. Rosenthal met and married supermodel, Erin Everready, just after finishing up production on their first album, “Live from Sun City.” Alex and Joeys’ relationship continued to deteriorate until one fateful spring morning, when the clearing mist unveiled the residue of unrequited admiration gone to fruition, and left the newlywed, newly widowed.

Joey Gunderson was found unconscious in the gutters where the two had met all those years ago. He was apprehended without incident and still in possession of the murder device, their recently platinum album, not the worse for wear, the evidence of the decapitation only detectable by circular swaths of dried auburn blood.

Having recently penned the first release “November Rain” off of GNR’s next album, Alex thought it a fitting tribute to use footage of his beloveds interment in the video. In time Alex’s heart healed and so did his contempt for his past partner in delinquency, Joey “Guns” Gunderson. Alex wrote, “Live and Let Die” as a lasting remembrance of the intermingling relationships that proved pivotal in the young artist’s sojourn. He dedicated it to “Friendship Unending.” Joey, to this day, considers himself the beneficiary of the dedication, Alex’s lips are sealed.

A loose interpretation of the tragic event was made into a major motion picture of the same name. Paul McCartney recorded a cover of the song without acquiring rights and without rendering royalties. Sadly, the song written in the midst of turmoil, remains, to this day, the center of controversy.
