Atheist?

punk rock yo Asked by rock3rtru 6 months ago, 13 answers.

Before I ask,I am not labeling myself considering I hate being labeled which almost every kid at my school has done to me but that's them. I never go to church,I haven't been to church in over 2 years,I stopped reading the Bible 3 years ago cause what...

I read I jsut couldn't believe any word that was in it. Plus all things I have accomplished in my life I know for sure was just me doing it,not God. Have I become Atheist?

Please don't say I'm labeling myself cause I'm not,I need to know.

your only an athiest if you dont beleive in ANY god/diety
there are a lof of different religions out there
some dont even have a god, some just worship things like nature
but if you dont beleive in any god/diety, then your an athiest
but again, there are numerouse other religions,
some of which dont require a beleif in a god

I wouldnt call it athiest but close to it. im the same way. I say that there was probably something that started the world but not god. and there probably was a guy that people followed but he doesnt control us and he cant see us. I hate going to church when my mom makes me and I never have or want to read the bible. no one is labeling you! its just like any other religion. its just some people dont like it very much.

You're an unbeliever: one whose name is not found in the Book of Life referred to in the book of Revelation.

Well, I wont call you anything. just ask if you believe in something of higher power, im not trying to make myself sound like a holy person whos all about god and things like that, I've only gone to church once the past 3 years. I've never read the bible, but I do believe theres a god. IF you can honestly say you believe in absolutely NOTHING except yourself then you can say your atheist. if not. you arent.

If you still think there is at least 1 god out there, then you're not an atheist.

...but if you keep thinking about it, you may well become one.

Out of curiosity how could you not believe in it, if the prophecies have already been confirmed by histroy, science, modern philosophy and archology?

It sounds to me like you're an agnostic - unsure as to the existence or nonexistence of deities.

Hahaha. Let's not get started down _that_ road.

do you believe in anything spiritual ( Not religious) like life after death, reincarnation, ghosts, paranormal phenomenon? because if so your not an atheist

Atheism is described as:
Atheism is the position that deities do not exist, or the rejection of theism. In the broadest sense, it is the absence of belief in the existence of deities.

The term atheism originated from the Greek ἄθεος (atheos), which was derogatively applied to anyone thought to believe in false gods, no gods, or doctrines that stood in conflict with established religions. With the spread of freethought, skeptical inquiry, and subsequent increase in criticism of religion, application of the term narrowed in scope. The first individuals to self-identify as atheist appeared in the 18th century. Today, about 2.3% of the world's population describes itself as atheist, while a further 11.9% is described as nontheist. Up to 65% of Japanese describe themselves as atheists, agnostics, or non-believers; and up to 48% in Russia. The percentage of such persons in European Union member states ranges between 6% (Italy) and 85% (Sweden).

Atheists may share common skeptical concerns regarding supernatural claims, citing a lack of empirical evidence. Common rationales include the problem of evil, the argument from inconsistent revelations, and the argument from nonbelief. Other arguments for atheism range from the philosophical to the social to the historical.

In Western culture, atheists are frequently assumed to be irreligious or unspiritual. However, religious and spiritual belief systems such as forms of Buddhism that do not advocate belief in gods, have been described as atheistic. Although some atheists tend toward secular philosophies such as humanism, rationalism, and naturalism, there is no one ideology or set of behaviors to which all atheists adhere
