Alright, here's the deal - First of all, when you first get your lip pierced it's SUPPOSED to swell. And second - you DON'T pierce ANYTHING yourself. Only a true moron would even THINK about doing ANY piercing by their self. Piercings are meant to be done PROFESSIONALLY... no matter what. If you pierce it yourself, chances are you'll end up with infections, it won't heal up correctly, and you probably won't even pierce it right to begin with. Don't listen to ANYONE giving you tips on how to do this yourself. Seriously, they're full of sh*t. They're NOT professionals and they DON'T know what they're doing. Neither do you for that matter. If they would claim to be a professional piercer, ignore them because they're lying. If they were truly a professional, they'd be saying DON'T EVER do ANY piercing yourself. ALWAYS get your piercings done by a PROFESSIONAL like myself.
Listen to my advice, I know what I'm talking about. You WILL regret doing it yourself and you'll be wishing like hell you would have gotten it done professional. It'll be well worth the price and you won't be sorry, I promise. By getting it done professionally, you will KNOW it's done right and you will have a VERY LOW risk of infection *if you care for it properly that is*. So seriously, DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. Get it done by a PROFESSIONAL.
yeah most people shouldn't do it themselves, but there are people who have had a lot of good results doing it themselves.
A friend of mine started piercing herself at about 14. now she has like every piercing in the book, and they're all very nice, and she did them all herself.
but if you're at all nervous about it, it might be your better instincts talking and you should have it done professionally.

Lol 1st off, its natural for it to swell, it will no matter what... and it lasts anywhere from about 1 day to 1 week depending on your body.

I'd still say for you to wait and get it done when your of age and by a professional its cleaner, safer, and your parents won't be able to do anything about it... Just don't ask them =P

Well ik these girls..One got her lip peirced professionally and her lip sweeled so she doesnt wear her lip peircing anymore.
The other periced it halfwaybut she got it infected and it looks like lip herpes.
Im kind of scared to peirce my own lip but...
my friend is going to do it first so its not that bad. should I still do it?
