Astral projection, obe;s and such

I have heard of this idea of astral projection, and I would really love to be able to do it... from what I've tried though, I have had no success, and am doubtful that it actually happens. Can anyone do this, and is there any advice if and how to?

I have managed through deep mediation to what I would guess is astro project my self. With my eyes closed I saw what a friend of mine was doing seeing it with in my mind. I do not think I really left my body more just became much more aware of my surroundings then normal.
