All of this depends on what you were doing at the time of the attack.
If you were simply standing around it's a little weird you would have had an asthma attack (unless I guess an allergy triggered it).
It could have been a panic attack? (those are classic symptoms and it sometimes happens for no perceptable reason).
But your doctor will be able to tell you.
And while asthma works differently for different people (I only get flare ups when I'm sick, my mother has it all the time), generally you dont have chest pains all the time...

Asthma
Yesterday at school I got chest pains and I had shortness of breath. My mom brought me to the Doctor after I saw the nurse and today I'm going to be tested for Asthma.. but, what if it's not asthma?? Are there any other things it could be? I'm really...
confused cause I don't know what to expect and I'm afraid that they wont know what's wrong. The Doctor said I had Classic signs of Asthma... but, still worried. I don't want chest pains anymore. Also if it is Asthma will the chest pains go away??
