Asking her to be my girlfriend.

I am the Drum Major (the one in command) in my Marching Band in school. I have this crush on a fellow band member. She is a great musician and a great friend. She told me one the first day that we met that she had never marched before in a half-time...

show. It took her five minutes and she was out-marching everyone on the field. I told her that it she looked like a Veterian Marcher. Then on the first day of school, she came in the band hall with a Huge Notebook full of sheet-music...I did the same thing. We were the only ones that did that. She is 100% a Band Geek; Like Me. I belive this is why I find myself so attracted to her.. she reminds me of me. She and I are also really heavy into the Classical Music (mozart, bach, etc.) How do I ask someone like me to go out with someone like me?! I have had a few talks with my fellow band students. Over 90% of them belive that we would make a great couple because we are TOO much alike. One person said us of being a Perfectionist! I guess I am seeking some advice as to how I can ask her to go out with me without screwing it up for the both of us. Personaly, I belive that the reason that I haven't EVER have had a girlfrind in the past is because I am TOO MUCH OF A GENTALMAN. I say yes ma'am and no ma'am or ... You get the Idea. But I have never felt this deep about anyone in my life. I asked a few days ahead of time if her once if she wanted to go to dinner, but she turned it down the night of the dinner. That was 3 weeks ago. She has my number and cell number, but hasn't tried to call me. A little bird told me that she said that it is hard to find someone her age that listen's to classical music, has respect for her and others, and doesn't try to take advantage of her. I would quess that I fit in that critera. So enough being said, I would appreaciate it if I could get some help out of this hole that I have dug myself in.

About the date... I asked her five days before if she would like to go to dinner, and let me show her around town since she was new. She said sure, I'd like that after I asked her. But the night of the dinner date, she said that she had something to do... I don't know if it was to get out of the date, or if it was real. But thank you all for the advice.
