for the past two years I've been monitering my feelings, thoughts, reactions ect ect and I really think I might have a minor depression, or SAD (seasonal affected disorder, a depression during the winter) I've done a lot of reasurch and everytime I see the symptoms of depression I can check off almost all of them, ie fatique, weight gain/loss, loss of interest in things, self injury, ect. ect. So my question is, how do I get help? my mom has no idea about it, she thinks im this bubbly little kid, and I really dont want to worry her. Also I suspect she would wave it off as a teenage stage. but I think I really need help, all of my friends notice it and I always feel really guilty about it and it just makes me feel so much worse. can somebody help me?

I really think the best thing to do is talk to your mom or an adult you trust. you may need help buti think it also has something to do with your teenage years. bottom line, talk to an adult and spend time with the people you know love you, make you laugh, you feel relaxed and happy and active around them./
good luck

I know how you feel. I have been there thinking that my mom would brush it off. I would just talk to her and tell her that you would like to try some counsling and she might just understand. What is the worse she could do say no? Just tell her how you really feel, It's better that she knows how you feel and she just might understand...You never know.
You should also try writing your feelings down and try talking to someone that you are really close to.

Me being in the medical field, I believe that you have what we call 'medical student syndrome' ... this is when you see a list of symptoms, it magnifies your symptoms so that it 'fits' ... you may be going through a minor depression, but nearly 100% of the population does. I don't think you need any type of medication, but some therapy would help, just to talk your feelings out. You do not even need your mother to know, just go to your family doctor and tell him everything you have said on here... and he will refer you to a psychologist. Right now, the best think you can do for yourself is stop thinking about it. Stop looking on the internet at symptoms and signs and types - you are digging yourself in a deeper rut by doing this. Live your life and do things that make you happy.
