Interracial dating questions...

Why is it that I always feel the need to pull away from my boyfriend when I see an Asian adult? I'm 19 and currently going through some interracial dating struggles also. My mother doesn't approve my relationship with a black guy and I've tried countless angles to get her to see it from my point of view that the color of the skin doesn't matter. (ex. This is who I want to be with. I'm in this relationship, not you. If he were white, you'd approve ... ect.) I don't know what to do but to stick it out and fight for him because wow ... I guess I'm falling for my best friend of more than a year.

Forget what your mother has to say. He's YOUR man, NOT hers. If she wants you to be happy then she would approve. It's not her life, not her man, not her problem. She needs to realize you're going to be with whom makes you happy whether she likes it or not. He's black, so what. Color doesn't matter. Love is love. You can't help it, where it happens, whom it happens to be with, what gender they are, or what color they are. Your mom needs to face the facts. You're in love with a black man. If she loves you and wants you to be happy, she'll sooner or later give in. But don't push him away because of your mom. I knwo you love her and don't want her to end up hating you, or something, but just think of how it's making your current boyfriend feel.

I'm kind of dealing with the same thing, only the other way around I'm black and hes asian, and If I was white I don't think I'd have as much problems out of his family that I get...

My family doesn't like my boyfriend )not because hes asian hes can be a lil mean to me), and my friends don't like him but it doesn't keep me from being with him so, I say you just tell your mom to deal with it or she'll just have to pout about it because her opinion won't change yours
(^_^), sometimes parents have to realize our lives aren't an extention of theirs
