This is a tricky question, any medication that is abused can be potentially dangerous, and if she's using them to avoid things, which it sounds like if she's sleeping through the day then there are obviously bigger problems... Also the pills will stop working eventually, and she'll need to take more to get the same effect... this can lead to an overdose which can be fatal... also not good for your liver...
I would look at this like alcohol, used in moderation it is fine, but start abusing it and you're looking at trouble...

yes they are...ther are so many reasons why they are dangerouse too...but your sister doesnt even have a prescrpition for these pills...she probably doesnt know the affects or the side affects that they could cause...tell your mum or soemone yo trust if she wont stop taking them...tell her to go to the doctoe, describe her problems to them and ask them what a good type of sleeping pill or medication would be to take...your not supposed to just grab something off the shelf and tart usuing it because it sounds like its right

If its not perscription medication, then I don't think theres anything wrong with that. But why would she want to sleep for the whole day? Thats the real question

my concern is how many is she taking. I used to use over the counter pills a lot and I had a bad episode of sleep walking and seeing things that were not there when I used more pills then I should have. So yes I would definetly say they are dangerous no matter if they are prescription or not. Tell someone if she won't stop. Sleeping pills can become an addiction.
