Are jail tours fair to inmates?

So I spent a couple months in jail a while ago, and while I was there, a couple tour groups came through, one middle school one high school. They let the kids walk by the cells and look at the inmates.

I didn't like this. It felt like I was on display because the kids can just look through the bars and you can't do anything about it. I mean the guard warned us sternly before this, no talking to the students, no whistling or catcalling at the female students, no violent displays, etc. Yet as they passed by, some of the students were giggling and one young scantily clad female even blew a kiss and smiled. I just don't think this is very appropriate...that's all. Any thoughts?

If it didn't feel good that should be a strong incentive to stay out. . .

Remember these are kids that are immature. That was inappropriate behavior on their part. That tour could make the difference between one of them being in your position and not.

As for you...you knew that whatever it was that you did to get in there had a consiquence. Good luck in your future and learn from your mistakes. None of us are perfect, but some of us have to learn in a different manner.
