Any hair damage after dying it?

I have always wanted to dye my hair either a blonde or red because I'm a brunette and I want a change, but my mom refuses to let me dye my hair. She thinks I'm going to ruin my hair because I'm still young and she thinks I'm going to have my hair fall out or something. I mean, I don't know what can happen if you dye your hair. I've had friends who did, and nothing tragic happened to their hair, but can there be any hair damage to your hair after dying it?

it's really not that bad, and you can get gentler dyes...you don't have to use the harshest stuff out there.

if you are brunette and want to go blonde, I would reccommend geting sublt highlights and then just keep getting more striking ones each time you go in for touch ups. don't jsut dip your head in a bucket of bleach!! lol.

also, make sure you get a GREAT conditioner that will keep your hair healthy. when you die your hair, it does get more brittle. keep up on your vitamins, use a good conditioner, and don't forget to trim your hair (to get rid of split ends!) good luck.

Dye changes color of your hair but it does not improve your it for sure but if you want to change the color of your hair that bad to to Huckleberry (the natural store) and ask for natural herbs that change hair color (I honestly forgot the name of that herb). It does not only color your hair but it improves it too. It will look shiny and beutiful. It is kind of messy when you apply it, but hey, it is worth it.

Dyes definately have a negative effect on your hair, but if you really want to change your hair color go to Huckleberry (the natual store) and ask for herb that changes hair color (I honestly forgot how it is called but I am sure the assistant knows about it), that herb does not only change your hair color, it improves it. It makes your hair strong and shiny. It is kind of messy when you apply it, but hey, it is worth it.

Some info: Although do-it-yourself highlights and hair-color kits are easy and inexpensive, the results are almost always not in your best interest. Get a recommendation for a good stylist and consult with him or her (as well as your parents!) before you decide to change your hair color. There are infinite shades of 'blonde,' 'red,' 'brown,' or even 'black.' A stylist can help you pick the best one for your skin tone. Also, your current hair-color might react to certain dyes.

Might I suggest Herbal Essences dye. It also depends on who dyes your hair. I heard from a professinal hairstylist whose name I cannot remember offhand, said dying your hair doesn't ruin it, dying it incorrectly does. So, if you're that concerned about it go to a beautician you trust. I've had my hair 7 different shades of 'natural' tones befire. I dyed it myself. After I dyed my hair I got my spit ends that were there before my dye job cut off. I've had my hair Navy Blue last school year the whole head and there wasn't any damage to my hair at all. If you follow directions and do everything correctly it shouldn't kill your hair. Now keep in mind you should only dye it once a month or every 3 weeks because dying it too often can put stress on your hair and scalp and cause your hair to be dry or damaged.

I've dyed my hair, my mom hates dye too, but I used something called Henna dye, go to your local health food store they should sell it there if you want to go red or something that's perfect because it is naturally red (henna is a plant) Or use natural essences I used the semi permanent dye that's only supposed to last 6-8 weeks but it's lasted me months. It also made my hair much healthier too lol I don't know how but it did. I went from light brunette to jet black. But when I was younger I did blond highlights with hair bleach. To get that go to a place like sally's beauty supply. They should have it there.

LETS PUT IT SIMPLE. IT KILLS YOUR HAIR. WHAT you CAN DO TO MAKE A CHANGE IS USING SEMI-PERMANENT HAIR COLORING. IT DOESENT KILL YOUR HAIR AS MUCH
