My personal preference: NONE.
They both suck.

Get AVG free edition, it's free, it's really good and you get updates regularly.

I had macafee before and it gave me a virus. So don't use it.
Norton is way better.

I dunno. But it f*cked up my computer and gave me a virus. Basically just stopped protecting it and stuff. I've never had a problem with Norton or Virgin Broadband though.

NONE!!
Norton filled up our computer with virus, and mcfee slows down the whole laptop and the laptop is already slow and when it scans it takes ages to stop it! Mcfee is good but it slows down the whole thing! And there are much better anti virus programs out there, dad got a new one, we didnt try it yet though , I'll let you know if its good

I've used both of the two you are asking about and they both work but Norton slows down the computer and uses a lot of memory.

I now use AVG free edition which has also kept my computer virus free but did not cost me anything and runs very quickly.

It does not satisfy me both Norton and Mcaffe.
I used NOD32 instead.

rather try avg free or bit defender. but if you have to choose between norton and mcafee rather choose mcafee, norton really slows down your computer. And the only way that an antivirus can actually give you a virus is if you have more than one antivirus on your computer (mine gives this error when I use avg together with spybot search and destroy)

I use AVG and Spybot (latest versions and updates of each) and have never had a problem with either of them. Obviously you don't run them both at the same instant.

You should have a good anti-virus program that you run at least once a week (daily if other people use your computer or you do a lot of browsing and downloading on the net).

You should also have a good spyware program which you should run at least once a week.

You should also have a good Registry Cleaner program which you should run at least once a week.

I use all of the programs listed below. Besides being good programs, and FREE, you also have the ability to continue working on your computer (online or offline) while the program is running.

AVG is a FREE anti-virus program that is excellent

Spybot - Search Destroy removes spyware and it's FREE.

Ad-aware removes spyware and it's FREE!

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner is good and relatively fast.

I hope you do not take offense,
To that that's gone before;
'Tis only that it's my two-cents,
And not one penny more. §;o)
