Anti-bodies

Asked by dragongirl_01 8 months ago, 4 answers.

Is it rue that once your body catches a certain disease you can never catch it again? because your body had already produced anti-bodies for that disease or something like that. like if you get the flu as a kid, can yo get it again as an adult?

If you catch a particular strain of virus, your body builds up the anti-bodies to fight it off so the chance that you will catch it again is slim, however, catching the same virus more than once isn't unheard of.

Just keep in mind that there are so many different strains of virus in the world that you will never be completely rid of them all in your lifetime - there's always another one you can contract.

The common cold, for instance has hundreds of strains.
And some viruses mutate so the body's defenses do not recognize it later.
But for many diseases, that is true.

For some yeah but not always. There are some cases where you might catch it agian. Chicken pox, for instance, you only get once. But you can get the flu over and over.
