Why do people ask if they don't want to know?

ok if you are on here asking question you must want advice why is it that I answered a question and got a tricked up fun mail from the girl that said why I said that

because people only want to hear the answer that suits them. it happens to everyone, me, you, and even my dog =)
im sure someone has said something you didnt agree with. but people have to relize it is a personal opinion, and you dont have to accept it, just listen to it.

I dont think all people want to hear the answer that suites them but this is the case for some people.

This often follows particular subjects such as questions around eating disorders, the 'Do you think I am pretty, questions etc...

Often when someone has a compulsive disorder, low self esteem, is overly arguementative etc you will find that they will ignore 99% of the advice and just take notice to the 1% that already fits in with what they already believe.

But then that is their choice to do so, regardless of how annoying it can be to those who have taken time out to post some very constructive replies.

However, be happy in knowing that those replies are likely to assist others that may have similar problems but genuinly want constructive answers.

Dont forget, the replies on the site are often very useful to other people, especially those who are perhaps too shy to post themselves.

You fun mailed me asking why I had deleted your question. If it was not put back on here then I must have been right to do so because it goes to a review section where the questions are either deleted for good or put back on. If it was not put back on then there is a reason. Why not try to ask in a better way so that it wont get taken of again. There is no rule against that.

What do you mean by a 'tricked up fun mail' ?

Did you contact the person about something first? If so, it would be only polite for them to reply.

That does not mean that they will agree with you though.

I have all of the fun mails kiasu so you can refer to them if you like.

don't worry about it... you just can't please some people...
