Not how I would abbreviate the name. But no, it's genetic, don't even think about using weights, your dog doesn't think it's ugly because it has smaller ears, nor should you.
they're all cute right?
lol, no sorry, all genetics...
could be from the parents, could be a random mutation...
Yep, it's all genetic. Brushing and combing gently and regularly will make your dog's ears look their best, so that's all I can advise. And I'm also about to go and brush the very long, pretty, knotty and matted ears of our Cocker Spaniel, so actually, I think your dog is quite lucky if he/she has shorter ears!
no, that is passed on by genes...dichihuahua
All of my dogs ears are pretty much the same length, the proper length for ear set on a Cocker is when you pull the ear forward, the tip of the ear skin should be flush with the tip of the nose. Some of mine look a lot longer due to the rate of growth of the hair on the ears. Lacey's ears look longest but it is actually just the hair!!
I keep Dawz and Baloo's ears trimmed short nbecause they are my sniffers, they keep their hads to the ground when outside!
That's helpful advice for a new Cocker Spaniel owner (me)! Thanks, mszbboops.
LOL you can't MAKE it grow. I like short ears :D

Cocker spaniel ears, long versus short?

I see some cockers ears being really long and pretty and others look shorter. Is there a eay to help grow your cockers ears long or is it just one of those things passed on by their parents?
